The Boy Tate Bio
Formed in the darkest bowels of Yorkshire, the boy tate are a three piece project comprising of Andrew Tate (aka ‘Tat’) vocals, David Harling guitar, and Tony Wade keyboards etc. The band emerged in the late 1990’s forged from the ashes of ‘Brick Supply’ an established indie band whose song ‘not so manic now’ was covered by Dubstar and reached no 9 in the UK charts.
The boy tate write about circumstance, contradiction and typically human relations, adding their own gritty twist to proceedings. The band members are inspired by such a diverse range of artists including; the Carpenters, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, the Fall, Counting Crows, Bach, James Taylor, the Smiths to name but a few.
Heading at full steam towards their 4th album the band have opted for a fuller sound this time around, with the featured song ‘Single song set sail’ offering the usual boy tate acoustic melody and meaning.
The new album ‘For every rhyme’ will feature ten brand new boy tate offerings, on this occasion many of the instruments and vocals have been recorded live to give a raw edge to certain songs.
To date the boys have enjoyed a number of support slots including Damien Rice, Suzanne Vega, Boo Hewerdine, Blue Rodeo, Al Stewart, and even the comedian Charlie Chuck. They have toured across California playing at a number of Borders bookstores Their intention is to continue to write, record, and take their music to new audiences, and continuing to enjoy the music.
