Rocky Sands Bio Page
Hi everyone! My name is Rocky Sands, and I’m a songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. I’m 19 years old, and I currently attend school at Arizona State University, where I go to class…sometimes. Most of the time, I spend my days writing music that is very melodic driven, and I love writing unique lyrics.
There is nothing more intriguing to me than the malleability of the written word, and I love combining that with my love of music. Growing up in Phoenix was a perfect place to develop as a musician and songwriter. Since it’s so unbearably hot here and incredibly boring, all I could do as a kid was basically play and write music. Recently, I just finished recording my first album, Stop the Clock, for which I wrote all of the music and lyrics for all eleven songs. I recorded all of the instruments on the album, and all the vocals were sung by my friend Dan Rosien. My friend Rachael Sheridan also sang vocals on Time Machines (track 6 of the album). Every song I write begins on the acoustic guitar! I can’t even begin to describe the passion I have for the acoustic guitar. Whenever I pick one up, I fall into a trance and I feel like my mind enters a totally different world—one that’s impossible to reach without the “twang” of a string or the fullness of an open chord.
